Sumer is delighted to be a participating gallery in the inaugural edition of TENT New Art Weekend, organised by Aotearoa Art Fair.
Playfully titled after a bird that lays its eggs in other birds’ nests, the exhibition is a joint presentation between Sumer and Laree Payne Gallery, our good friends from over the Kaimai range. The presentation was scheduled to take place in the Chairman’s Suite at Park Hyatt Auckland; however current Covid restrictions have meant that this is regrettably not possible. Therefore, Sumer is now hosting the presentation at its gallery in Tauranga.
The show presents a diverse grouping of new and recent work by artists from both galleries. A selection of work that might be akin to a collector's approach: the connections subjective and responsive, where works can speak on their own merits. We have opted for a good dose of bold colour, humour and good energy—something we feel is certainly needed right now.
The gallery will be running special opening hours for TENT weekend, as follows:
Thursday 10–7 PM
Friday 10–3 PM
Sat & Sun 11–3 PM
