Sumer is pleased to announce the opening of its new gallery location at 27 Beach Road, Auckland CBD.
A stone's throw from Britomart Square, the new space is housed within a 130 year old storehouse, which would have originally serviced the city's port and railyards. A building of many angles, with character features such as iron work and exposed brick. The gallery has been built as a large cube which floats in the space—the design that makes no attempt to disguise the building's heritage and eccentricties. Instead they contrast and compliment one another.
Sumer's first exhibition in Tāmaki Makaurau will be a large group show comprised of roughly 20 artists that are involved in the gallery's program. NOVA runs from the 31st of May to the 24th of June.
